Janos Data Breach Investigation

Janos Data Breach Investigation

Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is involved in the Janos Data Breach Investigation for a data breach that affected an unknown number of individuals and their personal information.

Janos Technology LLC (“Janos”) discovered that files on its system were accessed without permission in October and November of 2023. After launching an investigation, Janos learned that a cybercriminal had gained access to the personally identifiable information of its consumers. The cybercriminals were able to view sensitive employee information from January 25, 2023, to November 6, 2023. The private information compromised in the data breach includes but is not limited to full names, dates of birth, passport numbers, birth certificate numbers, financial account numbers, credit or debit card numbers, health insurance numbers, and Social Security Numbers.

The Janos Data Breach

Janos recently sent notification to affected employees informing them of the data breach. All of the information stolen is likely valuable and dangerous to affected victims. As is likely to be the case with the Janos data breach, in previous cyber-attacks, victims of data theft have noticed identity theft attempts ranging from fraudulent charges on bank accounts or credit cards, to unauthorized credit card applications, to medical services or government services ordered in their name, to their information being posted on the dark web, to a massive uptick in the number of spam text messages, calls and emails received.
