CSC ServiceWorks Data Breach Investigation

data breach investigation

Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is involved in the CSC ServiceWorks data breach investigation, for a data breach affecting 35,340 individuals and their personal information.

CSC ServiceWorks began investigating suspicious activity on its network on February 4, 2024. Through its investigation, CSC ServiceWorks discovered that hackers were able to compromise a significant amount of personal information, and that they had unauthorized access from September 23, 2023, through February 4, 2024.  The compromised information includes a variety of highly sensitive details including:

  • full name,
  • date of birth,
  • contact information,
  • government identification (such as your Social Security or driver’s license number),
  • financial information (such as your bank account and routing number),
  • health insurance information, and
  • limited medical information

The CSC ServiceWorks Data Breach Investigation

CSC ServiceWorks began informing individuals of the breach through a mailed notice letter, on August 9, 2024. All of the information stolen is likely valuable and dangerous to affected victims. As is likely to be the case with the CSC ServiceWorks data breach, in previous data breaches, victims of data theft have noticed identity theft attempts ranging from fraudulent charges on bank accounts or credit cards, to unauthorized credit card applications, to medical services or government services ordered in their name, to their information being posted on the dark web, to a massive uptick in the number of spam text messages, calls and emails received.
