Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is involved in the EFS Advisors, LLC (“EFS”) data breach investigation, for a data breach affecting 31,042 individuals and their personal information.
On or about February 22, 2024, EFS discovered that it fallen victim to a targeted cyberattack, whereby a hacker gained access to its computer network. After a subsequent investigation, EFS learned that a zero-day vulnerability exposed the personally identifiable information of its current and former clients from February 21, 2024, to February 23, 2024. The compromised information includes, but may not be limited to, Social Security numbers, full names, driver’s license numbers, and non-driver identification card numbers.
EFS Advisors, LLC recently began informing individuals of these breaches through a mailed notice letter. All of the information stolen is likely valuable and dangerous to affected victims. In previous data breaches, victims of data theft have noticed identity theft attempts ranging from fraudulent charges on bank accounts or credit cards, to unauthorized credit card applications, to medical services or government services ordered in their name, to their information being posted on the dark web, to a massive uptick in the number of spam text messages, calls and emails received.
