Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is involved in the Nations Direct Mortgage, LLC (“Nations Direct”) data breach investigation, for a data breach affecting 83,108 individuals and their personal information.
On December 30, 2023, Nations Direct learned that its computer systems had fallen victim to a cyberattack on that same day. After an investigation, Nations Direct discovered that a hacker(s) had accessed and potentially removed the personal information of its former and current customers and employees. The compromised information may include names, addresses, Social Security numbers, and Nations Direct loan numbers.
Nations Direct recently began informing individuals of this breach through a mailed notice letter. All of the information stolen is likely valuable and dangerous to affected victims. In previous data breaches, victims of data theft have noticed identity theft attempts ranging from fraudulent charges on bank accounts or credit cards, to unauthorized credit card applications, to medical services or government services ordered in their name, to their information being posted on the dark web, to a massive uptick in the number of spam text messages, calls and emails received.
