Migliaccio & Rathod is involved in the Community Credit Union of New Milford, Inc. data breach investigation.
Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is involved in the Community Credit Union of New Milford, Inc. (“Community Credit”) data breach investigation, for a data breach affecting 43,414 individuals and their personal information.
On July 2, 2023, Community Credit learned that it had fallen victim to a data breach attack. Community Credit subsequently launched an investigation into the incident, where it uncovered that an unauthorized party gained access to its network containing individuals’ personal information. Community Credit learned that the hacker(s) accessed their network and copied files between May 19, 2023, and May 28, 2023. The compromised personal information includes names and Social Security numbers.
Community Credit recently began informing individuals of this breach through a mailed notice letter, send on or around February 12, 2024. All of the information stolen is likely valuable and dangerous to affected victims. In previous data breaches, victims of data theft have noticed identity theft attempts ranging from fraudulent charges on bank accounts or credit cards, to unauthorized credit card applications, to medical services or government services ordered in their name, to their information being posted on the dark web, to a massive uptick in the number of spam text messages, calls and emails received.
