Migliaccio & Rathod is involved in the Houser LLP data breach investigation.
Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is involved in the Houser LLP (“Houser”) data breach investigation, for a data breach affecting 326,386 individuals and their personal information.
On May 9, 2023, Houser learned that files on its computer systems had been encrypted. Consequently, Houser conducted an investigation, where it learned that an unauthorized user gained access to its network between May 7, 2023 and May 9, 2023. During this period, the cybercriminal copied and removed client files containing private information. The compromised information may include names, driver’s license numbers, Social Security numbers, medical information, individual tax identification numbers, and financial account information.
Houser LLP recently began informing individuals of this breach through a mailed notice letter. All of the information stolen is likely valuable and dangerous to affected victims. In previous data breaches, victims of data theft have noticed identity theft attempts ranging from fraudulent charges on bank accounts or credit cards, to unauthorized credit card applications, to medical services or government services ordered in their name, to their information being posted on the dark web, to a massive uptick in the number of spam text messages, calls and emails received.
