Texas Medical Liability Trust Data Breach Investigation

Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is investigating the data breach of Texas Medical Liability Trust and its affiliates, Texas Medical Insurance Company, Physicians Insurance Company, and Lone Star Alliance, Inc., a Risk Retention Group (collectively “TMLT”). The data breach impacted more than 59,900 individuals’ personal information. Between October 02, 2022, and October 13, 2022, an unauthorized third party breached TMLT’s computer system, stealing individuals’ personal information, including their names, Social Security numbers, EIN/Tax Identification numbers, state identification/driver’s license information, and financial account information. TMLT recently began informing individuals on or about September 11, 2023, through a written notification letter. All of the information stolen is likely valuable and dangerous to affected victims. In previous data breaches, victims of data theft have noticed identity theft attempts ranging from fraudulent charges on bank accounts or credit cards, to unauthorized credit card applications, to medical services or government services ordered in their name, to their information being posted on the dark web, to a massive uptick in the number of spam text messages, calls and emails received.
