Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is currently investigating the Maryland-based administrative services company Zenith American Solutions (“Zenith”) for inadvertently revealing the Social Security numbers, names, and addresses of over 37,000 medical services customers and patients. On June 24, 2022, Zenith sent thousands of public mailings that included patients’ and customers’ full Social Security numbers as part of the mailing label. Anyone glancing at the mail would be able to learn an affected individual’s full name, address, SSN, unique Zenith ID number, and the fact that they were enrolled for coverage through a company Zenith services.
Due to how serious this disclosure has been, criminals may have already been able to sell the data and/or otherwise benefit from the fraudulent misuse of such information. Some individuals affected by the data breach may have already noticed (or may soon notice) one or more of the following types of fraudulent activity related to their personal and health information: unauthorized credit card inquiries and/or charges, requests for loans or benefits in an individual’s name without their consent, fake medical procedures ordered, and/or disrupted use of the institution’s website.
