Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is currently investigating the Indiana-based Alacrity Solutions Group, LLC (“Alacrity”) for failing to safeguard the sensitive customer information of over 54,000 victims in a data breach that occurred between March 1 and March 3, 2022. It remains unclear whether this was a ransomware incident or not. However, Alacrity has confirmed that protected health information, as well as names, addresses, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, financial information, and/or health insurance information may have been accessed or acquired.
Hackers may have already been able to acquire and sell the compromised information or otherwise fraudulently misuse it for their personal gain. As a result of previous similar data breaches, victims of data theft have been forced to spend money on credit monitoring services and/or the impact of the fraudulent misuse of their personal information.
Some individuals affected by the Alacrity data breach may have already suffered (and/or are at a continued risk of suffering) one or more of the following types of fraudulent activity related to the sensitive information provided to Alacrity: identity theft, including medical identity theft, suspicious credit and/or debit card charges, unauthorized withdrawals from a checking or savings account, requests for government services or loans, or credit accounts fraudulently opened in their name.
