Nurses and other hourly employees report that, due to the demanding nature of their job, they miss their meal breaks. Despite this, they are deducted a half-hour’s wages from their pay to reflect the time for a meal break, even when they did not take one. The United Medical Center has a system in place to automatically deduct these wages, but not one for employees to reverse the deduction and receive the wages that they worked for.
