On February 21, 2023, Robeson Health Care Corporation became aware of a network disruption that occurred on or about February 17, 2023, through February 21, 2023, by which unauthorized access to its data was obtained. Patient information was impacted. This information potentially includes: name, address, Social Security number, date of birth, treatment information/diagnosis, treating physician, medical record number (MRN), patient ID number, Medicare/Medicaid number, prescription information, health insurance information, and treatment costs.
Robeson Health Care Corporation initially informed individuals of this breach on April 21, 2023, through a mailed notice letter, but has recently updated its notice with a new notice letter, as of November 27, 2023. All of the information stolen is likely valuable and dangerous to affected victims. In previous data breaches, victims of data theft have noticed identity theft attempts ranging from fraudulent charges on bank accounts or credit cards, to unauthorized credit card applications, to medical services or government services ordered in their name, to their information being posted on the dark web, to a massive uptick in the number of spam text messages, calls and emails received.
