Joneca Garbage Disposal Horsepower Investigation

Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is investigating whether certain garbage disposals manufactured by Joneca Company, LLC, were advertised with horsepower ratings that overstated the power actually delivered by their motors. Potentially affected brands include Waste Maid, Titan, Eco Logic, Bone Crusher, and American Standard Elite.

Consumers purchasing garbage disposals may rely on advertised horsepower ratings when comparing products and deciding whether to pay more for a more powerful model. However, testing presented in a lawsuit brought by competing manufacturer InSinkErator indicated that certain Joneca disposals delivered less mechanical horsepower than their advertised ratings suggested. In December 2025, a federal appeals court upheld a preliminary injunction requiring Joneca to clarify that its advertised horsepower figures did not represent actual motor output.

Migliaccio & Rathod is investigating whether consumers purchased affected Joneca-manufactured garbage disposals based on misleading horsepower ratings and paid more for products that delivered less grinding power than advertised.

Consumers Report:

  • Purchasing garbage disposals advertised with specific horsepower ratings;
  • Paying more for models advertised as having greater grinding power;
  • Receiving products whose actual motor output may be lower than advertised;
  • Relying on horsepower ratings when comparing competing models; or
  • Discovering that advertised horsepower figures may reflect electrical consumption rather than actual motor output.

Potential Claims May Include:

  • Misleading horsepower or motor-performance representations;
  • False advertising concerning product specifications;
  • Breach of express warranty; or
  • Violations of state consumer protection laws.

Signs You May Be Affected:

  • You purchased a Waste Maid, Titan, Eco Logic, Bone Crusher, or American Standard Elite garbage disposal;
  • Your disposal was manufactured by Joneca;
  • The product was advertised with a specific horsepower rating;
  • You relied on that rating when purchasing the disposal;
  • You paid more for a model advertised as more powerful; or
