What Happened?

On September 1, 2026, Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP (“Sheppard”) became aware of suspicious activity in its network. They conducted an investigation and discovered that certain files may have been accessed or acquired by an unauthorized user on August 31, 2026. Sheppard provided notice to affected individuals on October 2, 2026. Little information is available at this time regarding the nature of the breach or the data that may have been involved, but the affected information is believed to include sensitive and personal data.

Sheppard recently provided notice of the data breach. All of the information stolen is likely valuable and dangerous to affected victims. In similar cyberattacks, victims have reported identity theft attempts, fraudulent charges, unauthorized new accounts, misuse of medical or government services, dark web exposure, and increased spam communications.
