Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is investigating reports of a potential sensor or control-system defect affecting Harbor Freight Predator 11,500-watt Tri-Fuel Super Quiet Inverter Generators, Item 72614.
Owners of recently purchased Predator 11500 generators have reported units starting normally and then shutting down within approximately 15–20 seconds. In some reports, the generator displays a yellow CO-system malfunction indication rather than the warning associated with actual elevated carbon monoxide.
There is also evidence that different versions of the Predator 11500 have been sold under the same Item 72614 designation. Harbor Freight currently provides different manuals associated with different UPCs, and owners have described physical differences between generators received as replacements. Pasted markdown
Migliaccio & Rathod is investigating whether a particular production version, sensor, or control component causes certain Predator 11500 generators to shut down shortly after startup despite otherwise normal operating conditions.
Owners May Have Experienced:
- A new generator shutting down approximately 15–20 seconds after startup;
- A yellow CO-system malfunction light;
- Repeated shutdowns during cold startup;
- Being told that the CO sensor, oil sensor, or another component may be responsible;
- Receiving a replacement generator with different components or construction; or
- Being unable to reliably use the generator for emergency backup power.
Potential Claims May Include:
- Defective sensors or control components;
- Defective manufacturing;
- Breach of express or implied warranties;
- Failure to provide an effective repair;
- Loss of use or diminished product value; and
- Violations of applicable consumer-protection laws.
