Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is investigating reports of a potential carbon monoxide sensor defect affecting DuroMax XP9000iH generators that may cause generators to repeatedly shut down and become unusable.
The DuroMax XP9000iH includes a carbon monoxide monitoring system designed to shut the generator down when unsafe carbon monoxide conditions are detected. However, multiple owners have reported their generators shutting down while being operated outdoors, accompanied by CO-system fault or service indications.
Reports describe DuroMax XP9000iH generators starting normally but shutting down approximately 15 seconds later, including on both gasoline and propane. Owners have also reported receiving replacement CO sensors from DuroMax after experiencing the problem. Pasted markdown
There is also evidence warranting further investigation into the components used inside the CO sensor modules. Reports indicate that different CO sensors may have been installed in XP9000iH generators and that the generator’s serial number may not identify which sensor was originally installed. Migliaccio & Rathod is investigating whether certain XP9000iH generators contain CO sensor components that can fail prematurely and prevent an otherwise functional generator from providing backup power.
Owners May Have Experienced:
- The generator starting and shutting down approximately 15–20 seconds later;
- A CO sensor fault or service warning;
- Shutdowns despite operating the generator outdoors;
- The same shutdown occurring on gasoline and propane;
- Replacement of the CO sensor or module; or
- A replacement sensor being unavailable or backordered.
Potential Claims May Include:
- Defective CO sensor components;
- Premature failure of the CO monitoring system;
- Breach of express or implied warranties;
- Failure to provide an effective repair;
- Loss of use or diminished product value; and
- Violations of applicable consumer-protection laws.
Signs You May Be Affected:
- You own a DuroMax XP9000iH generator;
- Your generator displays a CO sensor fault or service indication;
- It repeatedly shuts down despite proper outdoor operation;
- The problem occurs on more than one fuel type;
- DuroMax supplied or recommended a replacement CO sensor; or
- CO sensor failure has left your generator unusable.
