Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is investigating a potential engine piston defect affecting certain 2026 Ford vehicles equipped with 2.3L EcoBoost engines.
Ford has recalled approximately 10,001 model-year 2026 Bronco, Bronco Sport, Explorer, Mustang, and Ranger vehicles because an engine piston dome may have been improperly manufactured. An affected piston may fail while the vehicle is being driven, potentially resulting in an unexpected loss of drive power.
For affected owners, the problem may require considerably more than a minor engine repair. Ford’s contemplated remedy includes inspecting affected engines and, where necessary, replacing the engine long block. The source materials indicate that full remedy availability was not expected until approximately December 2026.
Migliaccio & Rathod is investigating whether owners have experienced engine failures, warning lights, loss of power, extended repair delays, or other problems associated with the recalled 2.3L EcoBoost engines.
Owners May Have Experienced:
- Sudden engine failure or loss of drive power;
- Engine knocking, abnormal noises, or poor performance;
- Warning lights or engine-related messages;
- Being told the engine requires substantial repair or replacement;
- Extended vehicle downtime while waiting for a recall remedy; or
- Concerns about the reliability or value of a recently purchased vehicle.
Potential Claims May Include:
- Defective manufacturing;
- Breach of express or implied warranties;
- Failure to provide a timely and adequate repair;
- Loss of use;
- Diminished vehicle value; and
- Violations of applicable consumer-protection laws.
Signs You May Be Affected:
- You own or lease a 2026 Ford Bronco, Bronco Sport, Explorer, Mustang, or Ranger;
- Your vehicle has a 2.3L EcoBoost engine;
- Your vehicle is included in the piston recall;
- Your engine failed or unexpectedly lost power;
