Frigidaire Electronics Failure Investigation

Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is investigating reports that certain Frigidaire Gallery and Professional induction ranges may experience touch-control malfunctions, unexpected cooktop shutdowns, lockouts, and premature electronic or control-board failures during ordinary cooking.

The investigation includes Frigidaire models such as the GCFI3060BF, GCFI3070BF/GCFI307CBF, PCFI3080AF, and PCFI3670AF, as well as potentially related models that use the same control-panel or induction electronics.

Consumers have reported that ordinary conditions around the cooktop—including water droplets, steam, grease splatter, wet hands, or wiping the control area—may cause the touch controls to beep, shut burners off, lock the cooktop, or stop responding altogether. In some instances, consumers report needing to turn the range off at the circuit breaker before normal operation can resume.

Consumers Report:

  • burners unexpectedly shutting off during cooking;
  • touch controls becoming unresponsive;
  • steam or water droplets triggering unintended commands;
  • cooktops locking after liquid reaches the control area;
  • needing to reset the range at the circuit breaker;
  • fan, sensor, or control errors;
  • control-board failures after relatively little use;
  • repeated replacement of electronic boards or other components; and
  • ranges remaining unusable for weeks while repairs or replacement parts are attempted.

These problems may be particularly concerning because steam, spills, condensation, grease, and routine cleaning are foreseeable parts of normal stove use. A control interface positioned next to cooking zones may reasonably be expected to continue functioning under ordinary kitchen conditions.

Premature Control-Board Failures

Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is also investigating whether some Frigidaire induction ranges experience premature failures of their induction generator boards, user-interface boards, power boards, sensors, or related electronics.

Consumers have reported electronic failures shortly after purchase, multiple control-board replacements, and repair attempts involving numerous replacement components without restoring reliable operation. One reported Professional-range experience involved three separate induction control-board replacements, while other recent complaints describe ranges becoming unusable only weeks or months after purchase.

Potential Claims May Include:

  • defective touch-control design;
  • defective electronic or control-board components;
  • breach of express or implied warranty;
  • failure to provide an effective repair;
  • failure to adequately disclose a recurring defect;
  • unfair or deceptive trade practices; and
  • damages associated with repairs, lost use, replacement appliances, or diminished value.

Signs You May Be Affected:

  • You own or previously owned a Frigidaire Gallery or Professional induction range;
  • your range is a GCFI3060BF, GCFI3070BF, GCFI307CBF, PCFI3080AF, PCFI3670AF, or related model;
  • water, steam, grease, or wiping the cooktop caused controls to malfunction;
  • burners unexpectedly turned off during cooking;
  • the cooktop became locked or unresponsive;
  • you had to reset the appliance at the circuit breaker;
  • a technician replaced one or more control boards, sensors, or electronic components;
  • the same problem returned after repair; or
  • your range became unusable within the first few years of ownership.
