Kubota ROPS Bolt Investigation

Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is investigating reports that certain Kubota compact tractors and zero-turn mowers may contain defective rollover protective structure (“ROPS”) mounting hardware that can loosen, fracture, or fail, reducing the effectiveness of an important safety system during a rollover accident.

What Consumers Report

Owners report:

  • ROPS mounting bolts loosening during ordinary use.
  • Bolts requiring repeated tightening.
  • Broken or missing mounting hardware.
  • Fold-down rollover bars feeling unstable or loose.
  • Dealer inspections identifying defective bolts.
  • Concerns that the ROPS may not function properly during a rollover.
  • Reduced resale value following safety recalls or repairs.

Why Consumers Should Be Concerned

ROPS systems are designed to help protect operators during rollover accidents by maintaining a protective zone around the driver. Consumers allege that defective mounting hardware can allow the rollover bar to loosen or fail when it is needed most. Even where no accident occurs, owners may experience diminished equipment value, repeated repairs, and concerns about the machine’s safety.
