SeaDek Decking Delamination Investigation

Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is investigating reports that factory-installed and aftermarket SeaDek EVA foam decking may prematurely peel, bubble, shrink, or separate from boat surfaces after limited exposure to sunlight and ordinary marine conditions.

What Consumers Report

Consumers report:

  • Decking peeling away from the boat.
  • Bubbling or shrinking foam.
  • Adhesive failure within 12 to 18 months.
  • Damage to the underlying gel coat during removal.
  • Repair costs exceeding approximately $1,000.
  • Products failing despite being marketed as durable and UV resistant.

Why Consumers Should Be Concerned

Consumers purchase marine flooring expecting long-lasting performance in harsh environments. Premature adhesive failure and deterioration may require expensive removal and replacement while damaging the boat itself.

Potential claims may include:

  • Design defect
  • Breach of express warranty
  • Breach of implied warranty
  • False advertising
  • Consumer protection violations
