On February 28, 2024, the Greater Amsterdam School District identified an outgoing spam email campaign that appeared to come from one of their district email accounts. They launched an investigation and notified community members on May 28, 2024. They discovered that an unauthorized actor gained access to certain district email accounts from approximately November 12, 2023 to February 28, 2024 and may have viewed or obtained certain information as a consequence. The Greater Amsterdam School District provided notice to affected individuals on August 27, 2025. The exact nature of the data that may have been impacted has not been specified.
