Value Store It Management, Inc., doing business as Value Store It, recently reported that an unauthorized party had accessed its internal records. Subsequently, Value Store It conducted an investigation into the incident, which uncovered that a cybercriminal had stolen the personally identifiable information of its consumers stored in the internal records on the above-referenced date. According to the self-storage company, the compromised information includes the following sensitive data:
- full names
- dates of birth
- physical addresses
- Social Security numbers
- driver’s license numbers
- state identification numbers
- passport numbers
- financial account numbers
- financial account routing numbers
- financial account institution names
The Value Store It Data Breach
Value Store It recently provided notice of the data breach. All of the information stolen is likely valuable and dangerous to affected victims. As is likely to be the case with the Value Store It data breach, in previous cyberattacks, victims of data theft have noticed identity theft attempts ranging from fraudulent charges on bank accounts or credit cards, to unauthorized credit card applications, to medical services or government services ordered in their name, to their information being posted on the dark web, to a massive uptick in the number of spam text messages, calls and emails received.
