Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is involved in the CEI Vision Partners Data Breach Investigation, regarding a breach that impacted an undetermined number of individuals and their personal information.
On May 26, 2024, CEI Vision Partners, LLC (“CVP”), discovered that an unauthorized party gained access to its computer network. CVP conducted a subsequent investigation into the incident, which uncovered that a cybercriminal had stolen the personally identifiable information of its patients stored on the computer network between May 24, 2024, and May 27, 2024. Because CVP operates a network of eye care practices, patients of other providers, including Columbus Ophthalmology Associates, may be affected. Although the compromised information may vary, the data breach involved the following sensitive data:
- full names
- dates of birth
- phone numbers
- Social Security numbers
- physical addresses
- clinical information
- health plan information
The CVP Data Breach
CEI Vision Partners recently provided notice of the data breach. All of the information stolen is likely valuable and dangerous to affected victims. As is likely to be the case with the CVP data breach, in previous cyberattacks, victims of data theft have noticed identity theft attempts ranging from fraudulent charges on bank accounts or credit cards, to unauthorized credit card applications, to medical services or government services ordered in their name, to their information being posted on the dark web, to a massive uptick in the number of spam text messages, calls and emails received.
