Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is actively investigating reports that certain juice products marketed as “100% Juice” or “100% Pure Juice” contain hidden additives and non-juice ingredients, misleading consumers and prompting them to pay premium prices for beverages that do not match their advertised purity.
Deceptive Juice Labeling: Not Truly “100% Juice”
In recent years, numerous juice brands have labeled and advertised their products, including both fruit juice blends and single-flavor juices, with claims of “100% Juice” or “100% Pure Juice.” These claims are prominently featured on the front of packaging and in marketing materials, giving consumers the impression that the beverages are made entirely from natural fruit or vegetable juice, without any additives or synthetic ingredients.
However, multiple lawsuits and independent investigations allege that these juice products contain non-juice additives, including:
-
Ascorbic acid
-
Citric acid
-
Pectin
-
Xanthan gum
-
Malic acid
-
Acacia gum
-
Natural flavors
-
Organic flavor
These ingredients, often used as preservatives, thickeners, or flavor enhancers, are not disclosed on the front label, contradicting the “100% Juice” or “100% Pure” claims and potentially violating consumer protection laws.
Consumers Misled by False “Pure Juice” Claims
Consumers report that they purchased these beverages under the belief that they were pure, healthy, and minimally processed, based on the labeling. Many expected higher nutritional value and better quality, only to later discover that the juice contained added ingredients inconsistent with what they believed they were buying.
