Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is investigating Ooni’s outdoor pizza ovens—including the Karu, Koda, and Fyra lines—for rapid rusting, peeling paint, warped stones, and other failures that contradict the company’s promises of “durable, weather-resistant” construction.
Reported Issues
Owners across humid and non-humid regions report:
- Rust appearing within weeks or months, even when using official Ooni covers
- Paint flaking, bubbling, or peeling off the shell
- Warping or cracking of stone cooking surfaces
- Corrosion consistent with uniform material defects, not misuse
- Warranty denials if owners did not register the product within 60 days
- Customers forced to pay for new shells, stones, or accessories out of pocket
Consumers say the defects appear despite careful storage and minimal outdoor exposure.
Why Consumers Should Be Concerned
If Ooni marketed its ovens as outdoor-durable while using materials prone to corrosion or premature wear, this may violate:
- False-advertising and UDAP laws
- Implied-warranty standards requiring products to function for a reasonable period
- Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act, especially where coverage is restricted by non-obvious registration rules
Damages may include a pro-rata refund, cost of replacement stones and shells, and wasted purchases of accessories.
Signs You May Be Affected
- Purchased an Ooni Karu, Koda, or Fyra oven since 2020
- Observed rust, corrosion, flaking paint, or stone warping within 1–12 months
- Were denied warranty service due to registration rules
- Noticed defects despite storing the oven under a cover or indoors
- Paid out of pocket to repair or replace components
