Samsung S90D OLED TVs Power-Supply Investigation

Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is investigating reports that Samsung S90D OLED televisions suffer early power-supply board (PSB) failures that cause units to die within weeks or months of normal use.

Reported Issues

Consumers across Samsung Community forums, retailer Q&A sections, Reddit, and deal-tracking communities report that S90D units—particularly the 77″ model—frequently stop powering on entirely. Symptoms include:

  • TV suddenly losing all power, with no standby light
  • Units failing within 1–3 months of purchase
  • TVs requiring power-supply board replacements, sometimes more than once
  • Samsung service technicians acknowledging known PSB issues or installing revised replacement boards
  • Post-warranty owners facing $350–$450 repair bills for a component that appears to fail prematurely

These reports suggest a potential systemic defect in the S90D’s power-supply architecture, board components, or thermal design.

Why Consumers Should Be Concerned

If Samsung S90D TVs were sold with a latent PSB defect, this may constitute:

  • Breach of implied warranty of merchantability
  • Breach of express warranty where repairs fail to correct the underlying issue
  • Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act violations
  • Deceptive omissions if Samsung knew of abnormal failure rates while continuing to market the model as premium and reliable

Consumers may suffer significant unexpected expenses, including repair costs, replacement costs, lost use of the television, and installation fees for wall-mounted units.

  • TV lost power or became unusable within the first year
  • Required a power-supply board or internal power module replacement
  • Experienced multiple PSB failures or out-of-warranty repair charges
  • Samsung denied warranty coverage or refused to reimburse repair costs
