Ring Protect Plan Auto-Migration Investigation

Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is investigating whether Ring Protect (1st Gen) subscribers to new, higher-priced plans in 2025 without proper notice or consent.

What Ring Protect Customers Report About Plan Migration

In spring 2025, Ring announced that all Protect Plus (1st Gen) subscribers would be automatically moved to new plans at the next renewal, accompanied by a price increase. Users report confusion about the timing, lack of opt-out options, and difficulty canceling before migration.

Why Consumers Should Be Concerned

These actions may violate California’s ARL and New York’s GBL §527-a, both of which require clear pre-renewal notice—especially for material changes such as price increases. Automatic migration to a more expensive plan without informed consent may also constitute an unfair or deceptive trade practice.

Signs You May Be Affected by Ring’s Migration

  • Your Ring Protect Plus plan automatically upgraded or increased in price.
  • You received unclear or late renewal/migration notices.
  • You were unable to opt out before the renewal date.
