Nissan Door Lock Defect Investigation

Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is currently investigating widespread safety concerns related to 2013–2025 Nissan Altima, 2014–2025 Nissan Rogue, and 2013–2025 Nissan Sentra vehicles sold across the United States. These vehicles have been linked to latent defects in their Nissan door lock actuators, raising questions about false and misleading safety representations by the manufacturer.

Misleading Safety Claims and Consumer Risks

These Nissan vehicles were marketed and sold as safe and reliable, with fully functioning power door locks. However, lawsuits and independent reports indicate that the power door lock actuators in these models can fail unexpectedly, potentially causing:

  • Doors to fly open while driving

  • Doors to remain locked and trap occupants inside

  • Doors to unlock spontaneously, increasing the risk of theft or crime

Despite Nissan’s knowledge of these risks, evidenced by Technical Service Bulletins, warranty repair records, consumer complaints, and a limited 2015 recall, the company allegedly failed to disclose the defect, continued to advertise the vehicles as safe, and refused to reimburse repair costs, putting consumers at significant risk.

Reported Incidents Affecting the Nissan Door Lock

Numerous incidents have been reported, including:

  • Occupants trapped inside vehicles

  • Doors opening at highway speeds, risking ejection

  • Failures during accidents or emergencies

  • Increased vulnerability to theft
