Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is involved in the Self Regional Healthcare Data Breach Investigation, regarding a breach that impacted 27,084 individuals and their personal information.
According to Self Regional Healthcare (“SRH“), National Recovery Services, Inc. (“NRS“), a successor entity to a former SRH vendor, discovered suspicious activity on its computer systems on July 11, 2024. A subsequent investigation into the incident discovered that a cybercriminal had stolen the personally identifiable information of NRS’ partners between July 5, 2024, and July 11, 2024. According to NRS, Self Regional Healthcare was affected by the data breach, as sensitive data of SRH patients collected in 2011 and 2012 was involved. The compromised information includes the following:
- full names
- dates of birth
- Social Security numbers
- diagnoses
- provider names
- medical information
- health insurance information
The SRH Data Breach
Self Regional Healthcare recently provided notice of the data breach. All of the information stolen is likely valuable and dangerous to affected victims. As is likely to be the case with the SRH data breach, in previous cyberattacks, victims of data theft have noticed identity theft attempts ranging from fraudulent charges on bank accounts or credit cards, to unauthorized credit card applications, to medical services or government services ordered in their name, to their information being posted on the dark web, to a massive uptick in the number of spam text messages, calls and emails received.
