Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is involved in the Compumedics USA, Inc. Data Breach Investigation, regarding a breach that impacted an undetermined number of individuals and their personal information.
On or about March 22, 2025, Compumedics USA, Inc. (“Compumedics“), a developer of diagnostic and research technologies for sleep disorders used by health care providers in sleep study clinics, suffered an interruption to its Information Technology (“IT”) Systems. Compumedics subsequently conducted an investigation, which determined a cybercriminal had stolen the personally identifiable information of patients maintained therein between February 15, 2025, and March 23, 2025. According to Compumedics, it informed its clients (Bermuda Sleep & Signature Services/Hope Healthcare, Bronson Healthcare Group, Chest Medicine Associates PA, Billings Clinic, Davis Medical Center, Northern Light AR Gould, Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center, Northern Light Sebasticook Valley Hospital, VCU Health System Authority, and Vitalcare Family Practice) of the cyberattack on April 29, 2025. The compromised information includes the following sensitive data:
- full names
- dates of birth
- Social Secuity numbers
- demographic information
- medical record numbers
- treatment and diagnosis information
- dates of treatment
- provider names
- sleep study details and results
- health insurance information
The Compumedics Data Breach
Compumedics USA, Inc. recently posted notice of the data breach on its website. All of the information stolen is likely valuable and dangerous to affected victims. As is likely to be the case with the Compumedics data breach, in previous cyberattacks, victims of data theft have noticed identity theft attempts ranging from fraudulent charges on bank accounts or credit cards, to unauthorized credit card applications, to medical services or government services ordered in their name, to their information being posted on the dark web, to a massive uptick in the number of spam text messages, calls and emails received.
