Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is involved in the Johnson Controls Data Breach Investigation, regarding a breach that impacted an unknown number of individuals and their personal information.
On September 23, 2023, Johnson Controls discovered unauthorized access in its computer system. Johnson Controls subsequently conducted an investigation, which determined a cybercriminal had stolen the personally identifiable information of individuals maintained therein. The company has only recently begun informing impacted individuals that their information was compromised. Johnson Controls has not specified exactly what information was leaked yet.
The Johnson Controls Data Breach
Johnson Controls recently began providing notice of the data breach. All of the information stolen is likely valuable and dangerous to affected victims. As is likely to be the case with the Johnson Controls data breach, in previous cyberattacks, victims of data theft have noticed identity theft attempts ranging from fraudulent charges on bank accounts or credit cards, to unauthorized credit card applications, to medical services or government services ordered in their name, to their information being posted on the dark web, to a massive uptick in the number of spam text messages, calls and emails received.
