Duo Broadband Data Breach Investigation

Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is involved in the Duo Broadband Data Breach Investigation, regarding a breach that impacted 42,518 individuals and their personal information.

On February 13, 2025, Duo Broadband discovered that a cybercriminal tried to disrupt its systems in an apparent effort to deploy ransomware and solicit a ransom payment from the company. Duo Broadband reports that it immediately secured its systems and terminated the unauthorized access. Nevertheless, on March 17, 2025, Duo Broadband learned that a hacker had stolen the personally identifiable information of its consumers.  The compromised information includes, but is not limited to, the following sensitive data:

  • full names
  • dates of birth
  • physical addresses
  • Social Security numbers

The Duo Broadband Data Breach

Duo Broadband recently provided notice of the data breach.  All of the information stolen is likely valuable and dangerous to affected victims. As is likely to be the case with the Duo Broadband data breach, in previous cyberattacks, victims of data theft have noticed identity theft attempts ranging from fraudulent charges on bank accounts or credit cards, to unauthorized credit card applications, to medical services or government services ordered in their name, to their information being posted on the dark web, to a massive uptick in the number of spam text messages, calls and emails received.
