Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is involved in the Yale New Haven Health System Data Breach Investigation, regarding a breach that impacted 5,556,702 individuals and their personal information.
On March 8, 2025, Yale New Haven Health System (“YNHHS“) discovered unauthorized activity within its Information Technology systems. YNHHS subsequently conducted an investigation, which determined a cybercriminal had stolen the personally identifiable information of individuals maintained therein on the above-referenced date. The compromised information includes the following sensitive data:
- full names
- Social Security numbers
- dates of birth
- physical addresses
- email addresses
- telephone numbers
- other demographic information (such as race and ethnicity)
- patient type information
- medical record numbers
YNHHS Data Breach
Yale New Haven Health System recently provided notice of the data breach. All of the information stolen is likely valuable and dangerous to affected victims. As is likely to be the case with the YNHHS data breach, in previous cyberattacks, victims of data theft have noticed identity theft attempts ranging from fraudulent charges on bank accounts or credit cards, to unauthorized credit card applications, to medical services or government services ordered in their name, to their information being posted on the dark web, to a massive uptick in the number of spam text messages, calls and emails received.
