Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is involved in the Oracle Health Data Breach Investigation, regarding a breach that impacted an unknown number of individuals and their personal information.
On or around January 22, 2025, Oracle Health became aware that it had fallen victim to a cyberattack. Oracle Health learned that the attack took place against Cerner’s servers. Cerner was acquired by Oracle Health in 2022 and the company is still migrating data over.
On February 20, 2025, Oracle Health began notifying impacted parties that their data had been compromised. It is unclear exactly what data was involved in the breach, but it seems likely that it contains highly sensitive information like Social Security numbers, medical information, insurance information and more, given that Oracle Health contracts with hospitals to store electronic health information.
The Oracle Health Data Breach
Oracle recently provided notice of the data breach to some parties, though the letters reportedly do not come on official letterhead. News reports indicate that individuals and hospitals alike are frustrated given the lack of clarity and communication from Oracle Health. All of the information stolen is likely valuable and dangerous to affected victims. As is likely to be the case with the COPA data breach, in previous cyberattacks, victims of data theft have noticed identity theft attempts ranging from fraudulent charges on bank accounts or credit cards, to unauthorized credit card applications, to medical services or government services ordered in their name, to their information being posted on the dark web, to a massive uptick in the number of spam text messages, calls and emails received.
