Recently, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau recently announced that they would be dropping a lawsuit against Rocket Mortgage and related parties. Migliaccio and Rathod is picking up where the CFPB has dropped off. We are investigating claims that Rocket Mortgage has engaged in uncompetitive practices in the mortgage industry.
If you recently took out a mortgage using Rocket Mortgage, you may have claims against them. Rocket Mortgage and Rocket Homes have been accused of engaging in uncompetitive behavior that has ultimately harmed the ability of consumers to make the most informed decision possible regarding their mortgage choices.
This lawsuit was initially filed on December 23, 2024. The CFPB alleged that Rocket Homes had been providing financial incentives to brokerages in exchange for steering customers towards mortgage products offered by Rocket Mortgage. The CFPB stated that “Rocket Homes pressured real estate brokers and agents not to share valuable information with their clients concerning products not offered by Rocket Mortgage, such as the availability of down payment assistance programs, which often save homebuyers thousands of dollars.”
The other parties named in the lawsuit included Jason Mitchell and his brokerage firm JMG Holding Partners LLC, d/b/a the Jason Mitchell Group.
The Trump administration, under Acting Director Russ Vought, has been reevaluating a number of cases announced by the previous administration. At this point approximately 40 enforcement actions by the CFPB were dropped. Notably, the case against Rocket Mortgage was dropped with prejudice, meaning that the CFPB cannot later refile this action.
