Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is involved in the Farmers New World Life Insurance Company Data Breach Investigation that affected 25,867 individuals and their personal information.
On November 2, 2023, Infosys McCamish Systems, LLC (“IMS”), a vendor that provides services to Farmers New World Life Insurance Company (“FNWL”), became aware that certain IMS systems were encrypted by ransomware. Subsequently, IMS conducted an investigation, which uncovered that a cybercriminal had acquired the personally identifiable information of FNWL consumers contained therein between October 29, 2023, and November 2, 2023. While it is unclear what specific categories of compromised information was stolen in the data breach, IMS claims the data includes “personal information related to FNWL life insurance policies and annuities.”

IMS, on behalf of FNWL, recently filed notice of the data breach. All of the information stolen is likely valuable and dangerous to affected victims. As is likely to be the case with the FNWL data breach, in previous cyberattacks, victims of data theft have noticed identity theft attempts ranging from fraudulent charges on bank accounts or credit cards, to unauthorized credit card applications, to medical services or government services ordered in their name, to their information being posted on the dark web, to a massive uptick in the number of spam text messages, calls and emails received.
