On August 15, 2024, Compex Legal Services Inc. discovered suspicious activity on its network and launched an investigation to determine the nature and scope of the breach. The investigation determined that Compex’s network was subject to unauthorized access beginning on April 9, 2024, and that certain files were acquired by an unknown actor while on the network. Affected consumers were not notified of the Compex Legal Services Inc. data breach until August 30. 2024. Compex Legal Services Inc. discovered that hackers were able to compromise a significant amount of personal information. The compromised information includes a variety of highly sensitive details including:
- name,
- Social Security number,
- financial account information,
- medical information and
- health insurance information

Compex Legal Services Inc. informed the Maine State Attorney General’s office of the breach, where a copy of the consumer notification letter can be found. All of the information stolen is likely valuable and dangerous to affected victims.
