Migliaccio & Rathod LLP, based in Washington D.C., is currently investigating D.C. Health Link (“DCHL”) for an apparent failure to safeguard thousands of enrollees’ highly sensitive information in a data breach, as well as employer data. DCHL recently notified the FBI after determining that confidential enrollee and employer information stored on its network, including full names, names of dependents, Social Security Numbers, Dates of Birth, Genders, Addresses, Emails, and Phone Numbers may have been accessed and stolen by cybercriminals, and subsequently posted for sale on the Dark Web.
In previous data breaches, victims of data theft have noticed identity theft attempts that include, but are not limited to, phishing scams, fraudulent charges on bank accounts or credit cards, medical and/or government services ordered in their name, or their information being posted on the dark web.
