Battle.net Account Deletion Investigation

By Bruno OrtegaFebruary 7, 2020September 18, 2024Consumer Protection

Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is currently investigating Activision Blizzard, Inc. for the unexpected deletion of player accounts. According to users affected, their battle.net accounts were deleted following a server update on or around January 28th, 2020. While purchased games remained accessible, in-game purchases and in-game progress were deleted. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare players, for example, cite the loss of purchased season passes, microtransactions in the form of player upgrades, and player progression, amounting to a significant loss of time and money—especially for Twitch or Discord streamers—that have gone unremedied by the company. This problem extends to Xbox and PlayStation accounts linked to battle.net, as console gamers report similar losses.

A petition to garner attention and support has been started and can be found here.
