New account holders of M&T Bank allege that they were attracted by a promotion that offered a $200 bonus when a new personal checking account was opened. Bank customers report, however, that they still have not received the advertised $200 bonus. Based on materials we have reviewed, residents of CT, DC, DE, FL, MD, NJ, NY, OR, PA, VA, & WV were eligible for the promotion after entering a code and setting up a qualifying direct deposit of $500 or more within 90 days of opening the account. Not only did customers not receive the bonus amount advertised, some account holders realized that they were never entered into consideration for the bonus, despite meeting all of the stated requirements.
